Lot 8 Block 28 Plan BC6483 - 1st Ave NE

At the April 16, 2019 meeting, Council resolved to accept the request for voluntary title transfer of Lot 8 Block 28 Plan BC6483. The title transfer is complete and the property is now in the Town's name. A resolution is needed to write off the taxes as uncollectable. Council must set a price and authorize Administration to advertise for sale.

Request to Take Title

At the June 18, 2018 meeting, Council resolved to accept voluntary transfer of Lots 9 & 10, Block 23, Plan G320. Upon further review, the title for Lot 9 is co-owned with another individual. It is not advisable for the Town accept voluntary transfer of a portion of a property. Administration recommends rescinding resolution 238-19 and resolving to accept voluntary transfer of only Lot 10.

Highway Speed Zone Review

At the January 8, 2018 meeting, Council discussed feedback received from Wheatbelt regarding the speed of highway traffic past their business location on Highway 5. At the March 20, 2018 meeting, Council made a resolution authorizing Administration to make a request to the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure to move back speed zones in all four entrances. At the July 15, 2019 meeting, Council received additional feedback from Wheatbelt requesting follow up on this project.

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure has completed a review of the speed limits through Wadena and has made a recommendation (attached) for Council’s consideration and authorization.

Town & Country Fair Board

At the Aug 13, 2018 regular meeting of Council, Council made the following resolution: "324-18 THAT Administration be authorized to prepare a bylaw to bring the Town & Country Fair Board under bylaw of the Town". The Town & Country Fair Board has since registered as a non-profit entity and no longer wish to operate under the Town. Administration is recommending that Council rescind resolution 324-18.

Mobile Home Court Servicing

There is more interest in the Town-owned mobile home lots than can be accommodated. A report is attached estimating the cost of servicing these lots and the projected revenue.

Offer to Purchase - 333 Jim Headington Way

An offer has been received to purchase Lots 24 & 25 Block 13 Plan G295 and is attached. The lot is located along Jim Headington Way and is zoned RMH - Residential Mobile Home District.
